Tigers Keep Winning And Now Get The Yankees In Motown!

The Detroit Tigers won another series this past weekend at the hands of a division rival in Cleveland and continue to own the best record in the majors at 35-15, but now they get the acid test!

They are about to throw a week long party in their house at Comerica Park and they have invited some very raucous folks in the name of the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox.

Any team that considers themselves a worthy contender in the American League realizes that they will at some point have to dispose of the perennial American East champions. With all due respect to the defending World Series champion Chicago White Sox, the Yanks and BoSox are the enemy.

After a consistent performance in the 2005 MLB season, the Atlanta Braves are poised to make a strong showing in 2006. The Braves finished the 2005 regular season with a .556 win average, placing them at the top of the National League East, which is where they have

Mlb: Blue Rays Defeated 2-0 by the Yankees

Player Chien-Ming Wang made a four hits ball right at the seventh inning while Hideki Matsui hit a two careers home run taking the New York Yankees to a victory against the visiting team Tampa Bay Blue Rays.

Other players who put their two cents in were NY Yankees Joe Girardi who had not participated in the previous two games due to a respiratory infection and was substituted by his assistant Rob Thomson. Girardi now on the lines and well is back along with teammates; the Dominican Robinson Canó and Joba Chamberlain

Girardi commented that it is good to be back again in the team, “is good to be in the fresh air. Although it is a little cold, one simply feels better when is there”, said Girardi.

So far in the 2008 season New York has only scored 17 runs, which is still a slow offensive; situation the Panamanian Yankees star closer Mariano Rivera tried to improve during the game.

MLB Tickets – Padres Lead Teams off to Surprising Starts

With a small budget and few well-known players, the San Diego Padres have so far been anything but the doormat for NL West teams, which many thought would be their role in the division this season.  With a plethora of injuries, the New York Mets have also outperformed expectations so far and have given Mets fans plenty of reasons to buy <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);” href=”http://www.stubhub.com/mlb-tickets/”>MLB tickets</a>.  Even the Washington Nationals have gotten off to a hot start and are near the top of the division as we move into the second month of the season.  But how many of these teams can keep it going?

As everyone knows, baseball season is a marathon and not a sprint, but there are still plenty of things you can take out of the first month of the regular season.  Even in this early part of the season, I think it’s safe to say that the Padres are much better than

MLB Tickets ? Surprise Starters

Let’s take a look at some starting pitchers who have been pleasant surprises for their respective teams through the first month or so of the 2010 MLB season.

Barry Zito, San Francisco Giants: Zito has failed to live up to the lofty expectations in the Bay that came with the 6 million contract he signed a few years back, but he’s off to a great start in 2010.  He’s 5-0 through six starts with a tidy 1.49 ERA and, perhaps more importantly, a WHIP under 1.00.  Zito could be returning to form this season, as he was a Cy Young winner in Oakland, which could make the Giants a very dangerous team.  With a resurgent Zito, Tim Lincecum, Matt Cain and Jonathan Sanchez, San Fran would have the best rotation in the majors.

Matt Garza, Tampa Bay Rays: Garza has emerged as an early candidate for the American League Cy Young.  At 5-1 through six starts, Garza has been dominant in each of his starts this season, save one.  He’s been going deep into games and

Beltran & Church Led the Mets to Defeat the Reds

The Mexican Oliver Perez’s batting, launching, stealing bases and experience made an incredible difference which helped the New York Mets win 8-3 over the Cincinnati Reds was basically the Mexican’s first victory since April 19.

“He can despair you occasionally, but is very competitive”, said Willie Randolph, New York Mets coach.

The most curious moment of the day, nevertheless was not conducted by Perez, but the Reds that did not continue the batting order during the ninth inning, after a double change; situation which caused a overall 10 minutes delay. The substitute catcher David Ross was to the base in eighth place to replace Corey Patterson; he managed to bat high out to the right garden.

Willie Randolph the Mets’ coach informed the referees of the error and it was marked to Patterson after a long discussion among the umpires. Ross batted gain but just a simple one.
